The sequel continues the story of undercover Indian agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari. Unlike a typical action sequel that simply increases the scale, Dhurandhar: The Revenge spends considerable time exploring Hamza's past, motivations and the dangerous world in which he operates. The film is written and directed by Aditya Dhar, who also directed Uri: The Surgical Strike.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge Release Date and Runtime
Dhurandhar: The Revenge was released worldwide in cinemas on March 19, 2026. The Central Board of Film Certification certified the Hindi version with an A certificate. The official CBFC record lists the certified length at approximately 229.6 minutes, which is around 3 hours and 50 minutes.
The film was released in Hindi along with dubbed versions in several Indian languages. Its long runtime is one of the first things viewers notice, so this is not the kind of movie to watch when you are looking for a short, straightforward action entertainer.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge Story
Without giving away major spoilers, the story goes deeper into Jaskirat Singh Rangi's past and explains the events that shaped him before he became Hamza Ali Mazari. Set against a dangerous criminal and political network, the film follows his attempt to settle old scores while dealing with betrayal, violence and shifting loyalties.
The story moves between personal revenge and the larger espionage operation. That combination gives the sequel a different flavour from a conventional revenge drama. Viewers who have watched the first Dhurandhar will have an easier time following the characters and references, so watching the first part before this one is recommended.
Netflix's official description confirms that the sequel explores Jaskirat's past and his transformation into the man seen in the first film.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge Box Office Collection
Dhurandhar: The Revenge had a huge theatrical run and became one of the year's biggest Indian box-office successes. However, box-office figures can differ between trade trackers because some reports use India net, India gross or worldwide gross figures, while others may revise numbers later.
According to Bollywood Hungama's final box-office tracking, the film collected approximately ₹1,108.09 crore net in India. The same source lists ₹1,376.51 crore India gross and ₹475.93 crore overseas gross, taking its worldwide gross to approximately ₹1,852.44 crore. Bollywood Hungama also classifies the film as an All Time Blockbuster.
| Box Office Category | Collection |
|---|---|
| India Net | ₹1,108.09 crore |
| India Gross | ₹1,376.51 crore |
| Overseas Gross | ₹475.93 crore |
| Worldwide Gross | ₹1,852.44 crore |
| Verdict | All Time Blockbuster |
The film's opening was also exceptionally strong. Bollywood Hungama reports an India opening day of ₹90 crore and an opening weekend of ₹443 crore.
Note: Box-office figures reported by different trade websites may not always match exactly. For that reason, the figures above are attributed to a specific trade source rather than being presented as an officially audited figure from the producers.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge Review
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is clearly designed for viewers who enjoy large-scale action, espionage, intense performances and a serious tone. Ranveer Singh remains the biggest strength of the film. His physical transformation and controlled performance help sell Hamza's dangerous and emotionally complicated character.
Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal also add weight to the ensemble. The film benefits from having several strong performers rather than depending entirely on its lead actor.
Technically, the film is ambitious. The action set pieces, background score, cinematography and production design give it a theatrical scale. Aditya Dhar clearly wants the audience to feel the size and danger of the world surrounding the characters.
However, the film is not without weaknesses. Its biggest challenge is its very long runtime. At almost four hours, some portions can feel stretched, particularly for viewers who prefer a faster-paced thriller. The extreme violence may also be uncomfortable for some audiences. Critical reaction was mixed: Rotten Tomatoes, for example, shows a much stronger audience response than its critics' score, reflecting the divide between audience enthusiasm and critical opinion.
My overall view is that Dhurandhar: The Revenge works best as a large-scale theatrical action experience rather than a tightly edited spy thriller. If you enjoy Ranveer Singh, Aditya Dhar's style of filmmaking and long-form action dramas, there is plenty to appreciate. If you prefer compact storytelling and restrained violence, the runtime and intensity may test your patience.
Final Verdict
Dhurandhar: The Revenge successfully turns the first film's popularity into a much larger sequel, backed by a strong cast, ambitious action and Ranveer Singh's committed performance. Its commercial performance was extraordinary, while the critical response remained more divided.
For viewers who have already watched the first film, the sequel provides a deeper look at Jaskirat/Hamza and brings the story to its intended conclusion. It is worth watching if you enjoy action-heavy espionage films and do not mind a nearly four-hour runtime.
Our Rating: 4/5
Best for: Action, spy-thriller and Ranveer Singh fans
Not ideal for: Viewers who prefer short movies or dislike graphic violence
